Eastern Scheldt storm barrier, clear day in Zeeland, The Netherlands
The Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier (Oosterscheldekering) in the Dutch province of Zeeland. This is the largest of dams of the Delta Works. The Delta Works protect a large area of land around the Rhine, Meuse and Scheldt delta against flooding. After the disastrous North Sea flood of 1953, measures were taken to start the construction of the Delta Works.
