On the road: Kruger National Park
A quick update from the road! Our first major stop on our trip through South Africa was the Kruger National Park. To me wildlife reserves, especially the more developed ones, always feel a little bit like a zoo. With such a high concentration of animals, sometimes as close as a few meters from the car, it’s hard not to. But Kruger is huge, the size of a small country and animals are free to roam anywhere. So don’t be fooled by the chain coffee and pizza joints at the rest camps, this is wild country :).
I had some more fun with the long lens. But now with lions and elephants rather than the deer I photographed back home a few weeks ago. For landscape photography Kruger is a bit less interesting. You can’t get out of the vehicle and the gates from the camps open up after sunrise and before sunsets anyway. So it’s mostly animal shots that I got from here.
Right now the long lens is back in the bag and the wide angle is on the camera again as we’re headed into the Drakensberg mountains!
