On the road: New York and Ohio
From New York City to Ohio’s Amish Country – the cultural contrasts couldn’t be much bigger. But after the craziness of the big city, Ohio’s countryside can actually be quite a relieve at times ;). And although geographically this corner of the country might not seem that diverse, there is actually still enough to see. The Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountains just north of NYC. The hiking trails through beautiful green gorges around Ithaca. And the Great Lakes on the Canadian border that could easily be mistaken for seas if it weren’t for the fact that the water is fresh. It might lack the deserts and big mountains of the West, but out here it’s beautiful in its own way.
Currently staying in Ohio’s Amish Country, which, albeit quite touristy, was fascinating to spend some time. And ironically, after several basic State Park camprounds, here we had the first campground with WIFI – the places you have to go for some regular mod cons! Today we’re heading southwards and on our way to the Appalachian Mountains :).
